Kate Aldridge - Kate Aldridge Art
I live in a little suburban village near the small town of St. Neots in Cambridgeshire, where tucked away I make my products in any clear space I can muster!
I first began making little hand built earthenware Penguins as a wedding present for my Fiancé while he was away in Antarctica for what seemed like a very long time!
I used images of beautiful Adelie Penguins that he sent to me, and since then my love affair with ceramics has grown and grown (and so too my population of little penguin sculptures!)
I love introducing mark-making techniques into my work which stems from my BA in Fine Art Printmaking and I love decorating with patterns, colour and gloriously shiny glazes too!
When I'm not making Penguins, I look to my own little green garden for inspiration and find a strong influence of colour and season growing into my work - I'm a little bit in love with English Country Garden birds and animals like Bluetits and Hedgehogs!
If I'm stuck for inspiration, I love walking in the Riverside park, or journeying to lovely parts of the UK like North Norfolk and St.Ives Cornwall where I always seem to come back with a plentiful sketchbook of ideas!
Feel free to look around my Folksy shop and I hope you like my work!
