Richard Cranwell - RAC Originals
I started pottery when I retired in April 2013 because I wanted to do something for myself that is challenging and is also enjoyable, creative and productive. It has turned out to be all of those things and much, much more. I work with stoneware clays and make both thrown and some hand-built forms that are modified in some way by faceting or incising before using coloured slips and underglazes to decorate. I make some of my own glazes but also buy in glaze powders from Pottery Supplies dealers. Most of my work has a practical function although, more recently a number of much more decorative forms are creeping in to my range of production.
