Nicky Sheales - Nicky Sheales Ceramics
Nicky is an artist & inspirational teacher who specialises in working creatively with clay.
Her ceramics reveal many influences, amongst these are folk art, mythology, theatre and Middle Eastern art as well as the beautiful coastline of her surroundings. These interwoven themes have all had a lasting impact on the style & content of her work, particularly the bas relief plaques that have become an integral part of her work.
A significant body of Nicky's recent work has also been sculptural & figurative commission pieces for various client's gardens.
Alongside these sculptural pieces, Nicky's hand built & thrown ware is constantly evolving. She enjoys stretching the capabilities of the various clays she uses, as well as experimenting with glazes & surface decoration techniques. Much of this work has its origins in coastal, nautical & seaside imagery.
These factors have all combined to produce a wide ranging body of work, varying in scale from ceramic jewellery to statues. Enquiries for bespoke pieces are welcomed.
Nicky teaches courses in ceramics & sculpture from her studio & in the community. She specialises in delivering tailored individual & small group tuition for all ages, abilities & occasions.
