My style has evolved from an archaeological background in the Middle East combined with decoration methods derived from South American pottery.

Basically pinch-pots, each object is first painted with slips either from natural sources (purple from ground Chilean rock and orange from River Cam silt from Byron's Pool at Grantchester) or coloured with oxides.

After burnishing and biscuit firing, the pots are masked with a mixture of whiting and glue and held over burning newspaper until the unmasked parts become an intense black. The resultant patterns emerge after washing off the mask.
